Hon. (Prince) Kayode Moshood Akiolu, MHR, Member representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency II and Chairman of the House Committee on Anti-Corruption, received Dr. Sunday Dare, Spokesperson to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, at his National Assembly office. Also in attendance was Hon. Abiodun Bolade, popularly known as AbbeyGovernor, who led TinubuNewMedia.
The meeting provided an opportunity for a constructive discussion on issues of national importance, especially efforts to intensify the fight against corruption and promote good governance in Nigeria.
Hon. Akiolu briefed Dr. Dare, whom he described as a big brother, on the work of the House Committee on Anti-Corruption under his leadership. He presented a situation report covering the Committee’s ongoing engagements and legislative efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-corruption framework, improve institutional accountability, and protect national resources for the benefit of citizens.
Talks also focused on the need for stronger international cooperation in the fight against corruption, including partnerships with foreign national assemblies, anti-corruption agencies, and judicial systems. Hon. Akiolu stressed the importance of intelligence sharing, cross-border action against corruption, recovery and protection of diverted resources, and measures to curb capital flight. He noted that corruption has become increasingly transnational and therefore requires coordinated action beyond Nigeria’s borders.
During the visit, Dr. Dare presented the Compendium of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the lawmaker. The presentation offered further insight into the programmes, policies, and initiatives of the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with both sides agreeing that the goal remains a stronger, more prosperous, and better-governed Nigeria.
The meeting also underscored the value of a productive Executive–Legislative relationship in advancing the national interest. Hon. Akiolu thanked Dr. Dare for the visit and restated his commitment, through the House Committee on Anti-Corruption, to supporting genuine efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency, institutional cooperation, and the protection of Nigeria’s collective resources.
The engagement ended on a positive note, with both sides calling for continued collaboration and constructive dialogue in the interest of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
